SO WHERE IS STURGEON LAKE ?
We know that there are about 10 lakes called STURGEON LAKE in the Province of Ontario.
THIS STURGEON LAKE is the biggest and it is located north of the Town of Ignace and just southeast of the Town of Savant Lake.
STURGEON LAKE is in the shape of a Y and this property is in the northeast arm portion of STURGEON LAKE.
We have 11 patented mining claims that have BOTH SURFACE and MINERAL RIGHTS.
We have copies of the original surveys for each of the 11 patented mining claims.

This lake is approximately 54 miles long, and about 6 miles across at it's widest point.
Highway 599, north of Ignace, Ontario, runs along the west side of STURGEON LAKE.
STURGEON LAKE is an exceptionally deep, cold lake, with the deepest hole over 300 feet making it one of the best trout habitat lakes in Ontario.
The average size of lakers in this lake is from 6 to 8 pounds with the occasional 20 pounder and over being taken each season.
WE FISH STURGEON LAKE EVERY CHANCE WE GET.
The walleye fishing is fantastic.
This year we fished STURGEON LAKE and caught walleye’s up to 12 pounds.
Northern Pike fishing is also exceptional and we caught northern’s up to 22 pounds this year.
Many larger northern’s are caught on STURGEON LAKE each year.
STURGEON LAKE provides great fishing throughout the summer and winter seasons.

STURGEON LAKE offers the fisherman endless hours of fishing opportunities for Walleye, northern Pike, Lake Trout and Whitefish.
This is a premier Lake Trout lake in Ontario with good numbers caught throughout the season.

The Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, are an interesting phenomenon which we never get tired of watching at STURGEON LAKE in Northern Ontario Canada.
The remote location of this property is great for seeing the Aurora Borealis.
The slightly higher elevation, clear air, and total lack of light pollution allow you to see incredible night skies.
You will see so many stars that many of the constellation are more difficult to pick out than in more southern locations.
THE OWNER has leased out a ONE ACRE portion of the property. This tenant has built himself a nice cabin and we believe that he is a bonus to the property as we can see that he respects the land and the lake and keeps his one acre in beautiful condition. He would also be a valued friend to have close by to keep an eye on the land and maybe to show you all the fishing hot spots.
Common belief is that STURGEON LAKE got it's name from the Sturgeon Cree Indians of Nipigon who were encountered on the lake by French traders in the early 1700's. The Cree used STURGEON LAKE to reach Fort Albany where they sold their furs. The lake has a colourful history in the fur trade with both the Hudson Bay Company and the Northwest Company establishing posts on its shores.
During the early 1900's, the Saint Anthony Gold Mine operated on the east side of the northeast arm of STURGEON LAKE. The remnants of this gold mine still exist today and are visited each year by tourists in the area.
From the early 1970's to 1991, Mattabi Mine and Lyon Lake Mine operated on the south east shore of STURGEON LAKE. These mines have since been dismantled and complete reclamation of the area has taken place.
HOW WOULD YOU GET HERE?
From the Town of Ignace drive north on Highway 599 for a distance of about 70 miles or 112 kilometers.
Turn right at the Anglers Cove Road and drive to the end of the road to the landing.
There is plenty of room for lots of parking and a very good boat launch.
From the landing, drive your boat about 16 miles, go around the horn and stop in at Mousseau’s Island Resort. Drop in and have a coffee and pie with Rita and Art Mousseau.
From this resort it is only about a 15-20 minute boat ride to the property.
